I am delighted to announce that Linda “Ramzy” Ranson, Sally Johnson Van Wright and I are hard at work co-coordinating your Self Defense Instructors’ Conference, scheduled for July 13-15, 2010 at Swarthmore College, PA.
Assisting us in an advisory capacity is an exceptionally skilled group of women: Yuko Uchikawa, Martha Thompson, Deborah Shipper, Sarah Trembath and our board member at large for self defense, Anne Kuzminsky. Some of these advisors may not even be able to attend SDIC/ST 2010, but they are contributing their time, talent, connections and wisdom to strengthen the conference experience. We are very grateful.
We are listening to you! In response to your feedback, our vision for this conference includes:
- More opportunities to connect with your colleagues.
- Skill-building for newer instructors and practical support for those in the certification process.
- Celebration of our feminist foundations and the intersectionalities of anti-oppression and social justice work.
- Movement and practice.
- Workshops to support experienced instructors.
